Objectives & Strategies

Creating unique and memorable gameday experiences for fans

College football teams often have cheerleaders and dance teams performing choreographed routines during the game to excite the crowd. During halftime, bands from both schools might perform, and school mascots or other characters may wander around the stadium to interact with the fans. During quarter breaks and time outs, there are often giveaways and contests for fans to participate in, such as trivia or skills competitions. Some teams even feature special guests, like celebrity alumni, to perform or entertain the crowd. These activities help keep the stadium's energy high and make the game experience more enjoyable!

College football games are a great way to bring together students, alumni, and the local community to show support for their team. To create a unique and memorable gameday experience, colleges can offer a variety of activities and events to give fans something to look forward to. For example, schools can host pre-game tailgates, fun halftime shows, and fan giveaways. Additionally, schools can create fan zones with interactive activities and host special alumni events or reunions to bring people together and create a strong sense of community. By making gamedays a memorable experience, colleges can foster a greater sense of school spirit and loyalty.

Increasing engagement with students, alumni, and the local community

Engaging with students, alumni, and the local community is crucial to the success and growth of any college football team. Here are five specific ways a college football team can increase engagement with those groups:

  1. Host alumni events such as tailgates. This encourages alumni to return to the school and reconnect with current students, coaches, and other alumni.

  2. Organize watch parties for away games at local restaurants or even on campus.

  3. Utilize social media to engage with fans. Post updates and ask for feedback from the community.

  4. Have open practices once a week for the local community to come to watch.

  5. Sponsor community events such as local charity runs and fundraisers.
